International Meeting with the Dizziness Experts
The idea for this event arose in March 2018, precisely in Barranquilla (Colombia), during the ACORL International Congress of Otolaryngology. On this occasion, Drs. Zuma e Maia and Renato Cal felt the lack of an international level event on otoneurology in Brazil. Initially the idea was to bring great, world renowned professors to teach a two-day course in Brazil, in a small, intimate structure. Where the participants felt a positive atmosphere for the perfect exchange of knowledge with the professors.
Among the many options of places in Brazil, we chose the city of Porto Alegre, which is a metropolis in the south of the country, where there are good logistics for flights from/to various cities in South America, besides being a tourist hotspot with a rich local culture.
The first edition of the event took place in November 2018 and we had the privilege of having Drs. Raymond Van de Berg, from Maastricht University (Netherlands) and Jorge Madrigal, from the Center of Vertigo and Mareo in Mexico City (Mexico). The initial plan was to receive about 30 participants, but it was happily exceeded and we had more than 100. An audience made up of physicians, speech therapists and physical therapists, coming from 17 Brazilian states and also from 4 Latin American countries.
The first edition was fantastic and exceeded our expectations in all aspects. Precisely because, in the third edition of the International Meeting with the Dizziness Experts, we will be holding the event at Deville Hotel, in Porto Alegre. We are also honored to receive international professors of the highest order, such as doctors: Prof. Michael Strupp (Munich, Germany) and Prof. Michael Schubert (Baltimore, USA).
The schedule was designed to please both those who are new to the world of otoneurology and those who already have more advanced knowledge, ranging from basic vestibular physiology, through the various types of eye movements and ending with modern vestibular implants. We will also have social activities, such as a dinner with the professors, where the main objective is to bring the participants together in a relaxed and leisurely atmosphere.
We are very excited about this third edition and already looking forward to welcoming you in Porto Alegre!
